Have you ever wondered why you will post a link to your latest, greatest blog post on twitter, facebook or google + and you just aren’t getting the reaction that you expected? It is that post that you spent hours on, just to see that it ends up being a flop. Well, there is one reason that it probably didn’t meet your expectations and here it is…

Your blog post title needs some work.

Think about it. What makes you click on other links? It’s the fact that the title seems interesting enough to click over and read it. The title is your first impression to that article. It better be good, right?

Spend five more minutes than you are right now to craft your blog post titles and measure to see what improvements that you have. I bet you will see drastic changes.

Here are 3 ideas to get your creativity flowing:

1. As for your blog, this is where you will spend the most time.

Use exciting, attention-grabbing words. Put yourself in the reader’s position. If you have five seconds to grab your readers in, what phrase or title will make someone else read this post?

2. On twitter, make your blog post title something worth tweeting.

A quote or interesting fact goes a long way here. This way your link is connected and will also looked at as well.

3. On facebook and google plus, make it more about conversation than anything else. Ask a question!

Notice that each social network needs different attention. This is because each social network is different. Crazy, I know. Try new, exciting things with social networking for the next month and measure the success that you have from it. I would love to hear the feedback.
