Nearly 80% of all New Years Resolutions fail within a week. Why? It could be one or more of these 10 things:

  1. The resolution or goal isn’t big enough to entice you to change. Maybe your goals just aren’t challenging you enough?
  2. You need more accountability. When the right people are keeping you accountable, you have a much higher chance of achieving your goals.
  3. Your environment, both people and physical space, isn’t helping you in your efforts. You might need to change things up?
  4. The people around you aren’t being honest enough or positive enough.
  5. Your goals need to be more specific. Goals worth chasing demand more specificity.
  6. Maybe you’re biting off too much? Start smaller and get some big wins before you take on more.
  7. Maybe you aren’t super clear on what you actually want? So, I’ll echo my friend Craig when I ask you this question, “What do you really want?” The motivation from within needs to be louder than the external noise.
  8. You may need more of a plan to help you accomplish goals? Resolutions are usually formed quickly whereas goals are more thought out. Your plan may be the thing that needs more work?
  9. Fall in love with the journey more than the destination. If you’re always focused on the end goal, you’ll forget to enjoy the daily process, and burn out will find you at some point. It’s important to focus, but make sure you’re focusing on the right things.
  10. Maybe somewhere along the way you forgot to have fun? Find you why, track down your spark, and remember to have fun.

Do you have some crazy big goals this year? Hopefully this helps you as you’re chasing your dreams.
