Have you ever looked at your schedule and didn’t know how your life got so busy? Most of us are in that spot. We over-commit trying to please others or we just don’t know how to say “no”. Or we don’t know our priorities or we are spreading ourselves too thin with too many goals. Yes, I said it. You can have too many goals. When your goals consume you and you can only be focused on yourself, it is time to reevaluate. Sometimes we can be blind to the obvious when we are pursuing our dreams and aspirations. Talk with those close to you and find that happy medium between your family.
So, when you find yourself in any or all of these stressful situations, here are three ways to lessen your load and get back on track:
1. Schedule in everything.
Know your priorities. Decide which activities you need to spend more time doing. Take advantage of those things that will help you. Commit.
That last step can be one of the toughest things you can do. It’s easy to do something for a few days. To commit you will end up having to change your lifestyle. The only things you will do that for is for those things that you truly believe is helpful to you.
2. Understand that discipline is what really gets things done.
Almost everyone wants and needs more discipline in their life. The issue is always if you are willing to put in the work. Again, you have to know what you really want from life to know what you need to work on. Write things down, plan things out and watch as things start to unfold.
3. Ask yourself, “Am I living at an effective pace?”
This is the most important question that you can ask yourself as people are expected to produce results more than ever before. People are getting less time off from work, people are putting in more hours and doing it on less sleep. Remember, it is possible to be doing too much and in return, it affects your overall productivity. Doing a few things well is better than spreading yourself too thin. A 50-55 hour work week is the maximum amount of work that can be done per week and still be effective in other areas of life.
When we are doing life, the bed can feel really good at 5am. The foods that we shouldn’t eat taste really good when we are going after health goals. Watching tv can just be easy compared to doing what we need to be doing. It’s time to reevaluate your daily routine in 2013.
So, what area of life do you need more discipline in? You can leave a comment below.

My biggest struggle has been with me weight lately. Having a very difficult time staying on top of it and making the right decisions.

That seems to be something that we all struggle with. If you ever need any accountability let me know. I will only encourage. 🙂

I can use all the encouragement I can get. Last week was one of the best weeks I have had in a while. Just trying to keep the momentum going.

Great post. Between working during the week and family time during the weekends, sometimes it’s challenging to find productive time to work on my aspirations.

Thanks. I hear ya. Keep messing with it and you’ll find your sweet spot.
