When making goals, we know that they don’t just automatically happen. We have to create new daily routines to help us become a well-rounded person. It is a daily process. As January is already coming to a close, this year is going to fly by just like any other. If you haven’t started thinking about the year ahead of us yet and can only think about getting through another week, I would encourage you to start thinking about goals setting now.
So, as you set goals for 2013, there are five main areas that should be addressed:
Spiritual– My belief is that you really can’t excel in every area without God’s help. How are you making God the top priority in your life?
Family– How are you giving your spouse and children the time that they need? What can you do to make sure that they aren’t lost in the shuffle while pursuing your other dreams?
Physical– What are you doing to reach your health goals right now? This would include exercise and food intake. Your health is the most important thing you can give to yourself and to others. Review your goals and see just how important your health contributes to your goals.
Career– What is your ideal career? What are you doing right now to get there? If you are already there, how are you making it fresh and exciting everyday.
Financial– What are some of your goals that will take some finances to make happen? Start planning how you will accomplish these ahead of time so you have time to save.
It is possible to do well in every area of life, but it won’t happen if you don’t spend time focusing and planning the necessary steps out. Those areas that you believe you can excel in should be no problem coming up with a plan for this year. The other areas of life might need more attention and planning, but it will definitely be worth the investment.
What goals are you working on for 2013? You can leave a comment below.

Good reminder, Adam, but I admit, these days it feels impossible to keep all 5 of those plates spinning.
Still I’m glad you started with Spiritual as the first area to strive in. Like Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

Thanks Robin. He always has to be first 🙂
