This year marks the beginning of something different and exciting for my family. My wife is starting a new career after seven years of staying at home with our two children. We both feel that it is time for her to jump into this new phase of life, and we couldn’t be more excited.
But this change in our lives has brought up one main obstacle: altering our schedules to help her feel more comfortable with her new role. And this newfound switch reminds me of one truth: chasing a dream (job) is never convenient.
You see, she wasn’t planning on going back to work in an office setting for another year or so, but her ideal job opened up, and we took a leap. It will require that both of us give up some things, but it’s something that is important to her, so we’re going to make it work.
So, if this year you’ve already put off chasing a dream because you feel that it isn’t the right time or it isn’t convenient, let my reminder be your reminder: it will never be convenient. Sure, it could actually be a bad time to start, but could you adjust something in your life to accommodate that one thing that is important to you, that you’ve been thinking about doing for years?
Think about it. Right now could be a better time to start than you think.
