One of my friends who is a writer had some great advice for me, and I thought I’d share it with you here. In fact, it left such an impact on me that it even changed the way I write. We were talking about one’s understanding of facts versus opinions and I loved his perspective on the subject. He said that when he used to share more facts with people, they would always want to debate his findings with him. But when he changed to sharing his experiences more often, people stopped debating him as often and began listening more. This is because people cannot debate that which has happened to you. That is why your story is so powerful.

You believe what you believe to be true because of the life you have lived, what you have seen, and what you have heard. If the story you have lived and tell others about is true, then who am I to debate that with you? You have your story and it’s your responsibility to share it with others. Never forget the power found in your experiences.
