I’ve heard them all.
I’ve made excuses for myself along the way on why I didn’t feel like attending church.

It might be that i don’t see me fitting in just right.
Or the teaching isn’t my style.
Or the music isn’t my style.
Or the people aren’t friendly.
Or it’s too far away.
Or I’m too busy.
Or I’m too tired.
Or I just don’t feel like going.

Writing that stuff out makes it seem even worse.

So…

If you got to church, why do you attend?
If you don’t attend church, why not?

  1. I go because I see the value in being connected to a greater vision than my own.
I go because when the church does what it’s supposed to do, it’s a vital part of life.
I go because life is richer with purposeful connections.

  3. The church I go to now challenges me in so many ways its crazy. It challenges me to get out of my comfort zone, to use the gifts that God has given me and to grow closer to Jesus. It’s a church that’s not all about ourselves, it’s a church about serving those outside of the church that don’t know the Lord. I love it!

  5. The reason I go to Church. Too many to list here but I go because it’s necessary. Necessary to connect, to live, to meet and greet (cheezy, I know). It’s part of being a Christian. I glad to see you are exploring ‘the Church” and what it’s all about. I’ve doing a little reading of sorts on the same thing. I’m a 30 something kid that’s grown up in Church. However, thankfully, I don’t have the church sucks, I hate my hypocritical parents mindset.

Although the Church maybe well off course, it’s not reason to hate, throw rocks, talk bad or ignore the Church. Anyone who feels “there’s a little something off” is in a perfect position to help restore the Church to her position. Jesus loves the Church and is coming back for a beautiful Bride.

One key thing that has been rolling around in my spirit – the Church will not have full authority until she takes on her full responsibility! This includes taking care of poor and widows. I’m not just talking about soup kitchens – I’m talking about being involved in the total make-over of the social service industry. Big – yeah. Necessary – absolutely.

  7. A lot of reasons. Primarily–God inhabits the praise of His people. There’s something about the presence of God when the church comes together to glorify Him that you can’t find on your own. This can happen with many or with few, but my purpose to meet with the church is to encounter God. When He shows up, everything changes. And if He doesn’t show up, there’s not much difference between church and the Rotary.
