Leaders are always teaching. It can be conscious or unconscious, but your organization is learning from you. You’re giving people both positive and negative examples. They might not articulate it, but they are learning.
I remember playing baseball growing up and I’d watch my coach yell at some of the guys who reacted best to that type of communication. And then I’d see that same coach come alongside other guys and calmly walk them through the area he saw that they could improve in. How could the same coach treat people so differently? I’ve heard them all.
I’ve made excuses for myself along the way on why I didn’t feel like attending church.
It might be that i don’t see me fitting in just right.
Or the teaching isn’t my style.
Or the music isn’t my style.
Or the people aren’t friendly.
Or it’s too far away.
Or I’m too busy.
Or I’m too tired.
Or I just don’t feel like going.
Writing that stuff out makes it seem even worse.
