“How are you doing?” is that natural first question to ask others and that others ask us, but it is one that we fail to ever really think about. So, take a moment to really process this question.
So really, where have you been lately?
On top of the world?
Are you in the stage of contentment and are things just going ok?
Or, do you just not care about much and life isn’t going as planned?
Wherever you are at in life, you need to think about your thoughts and where you really are.
Why?
Because you could be fooling yourself. Most of us don’t really take the time to be honest with ourselves because we like the easy way out. It is easy to not confront the real issues in our lives. Let us break this bad habit.
Here are four action steps to take in your own life as you evaluate your recent thoughts and ideas and really think about how you are doing:
1. Know where you are at.
Determine what your mindset is. If it is stuck in the same old rut, change your thinking. It really is that easy. Your thoughts are yours. Guard your thoughts because they are affected by what you let in. Your emotions are a good sign of where your thoughts have been. Be honest with yourself and with others while doing this self-searching. This helps you know where you really are in life and where you are going. If things aren’t where they should be, don’t be afraid to make the necessary changes.
2. Know what it is you actually want to accomplish.
Stop wandering and begin to focus on what really matters. What are you passionate about? What would you do for free? That is a good start to finding your passion. Do what you can to follow your passions and live them out.
3. Feed yourself positivity.
I know we talk about this a lot, but I can’t say it enough. Start with reading the Bible or another positive, uplifting book. Evaluate the different relationships you have in your life. Whatever you do to ensure a positive outlook on life, make sure that you put those things into place in your life.
4. Don’t forget how to have fun.
Nothing gets you down in the dumps faster than forgetting how to have fun. Go out on a date with your wife, take your kids somewhere fun, hang out with your friends or do whatever you do to have fun. Rejuvenation is the main thing you want to find here. I guess I should remind you to relax and have fun. If you can’t remember the last time you did this, then take a day off. It’s time.
Being honest, where has your thinking been lately and how has it affected your productivity? You can leave your comment below.
Greetings Adam,
You know, it’s that fun part that always seem to be left in the dust. We (I) seem to be so busy that I forget to have fun. And while I enjoy my work (well, my blogging work anyway) it is a different kind of enjoyment than fun.
Fun is, to me, is laughing and being carefree and focused on the moment not on anything else but enjoying the present and, hopefully, sharing it with someone close to me.
What say ye?!

Agreed. I think everyone feels this with all of today’s pressures and just doesn’t share it with others. Let us make a new commitment to have fun, Darrell! Have an awesome day man.

LOL! I just posted something very similar today about the lessons I learned in doing a new project. Taking a break and having fun when you don’t think you can afford it one of the lessons. We can’t be so caught up in building our future lives that we forget to live our present ones.
Absolutely, Julia! So important.

As I have been watching people lately and wondering why so many seem to have more joy than me, I realize that I take life too seriously. Everything doesn’t have to have deep meaning. I want to enjoy my blessings, which starts by being more thankful & must include acting thankful by enjoying them with others. I think rejuvination will come in that activity.
Absolutely, Kari. Thankfulness is a wonderful first step and is the doorway to joy and rejuvenation. Thanks so much for reading and have a great weekend!

I tend to blow this question off — until a friend of mine asked the question, and then wouldnt let me go until I answered honestly
That’s the key David…honesty. The person that is the most difficult to be honest with sometimes is ourselves. Thank you so much David for taking the time to read. Hope you had an awesome day.

I think I am stuck in a rut right now, not sure why but after reading your post will be seeking the Lord’s wisdom on my why. Number 2 seems to hit as I re-read your points. Can we pick two…I think number 4 is true also of my life. Need to enjoy myself more. Great post.
Thanks Betty. It is so easy to get in ruts though. I think the answer is always focusing on the problems in our lives too much. You saying that you are seeking the Lord’s wisdom lets me know that you are a believer. In my experience it has always been that I haven’t always fully given something to God that keeps me focusing on my own issues. Maybe that’s just me. 🙂 I’ll be praying with you too, Betty. Thank you so much for reading. Have a great evening. 🙂
