Having standards is extremely important. These standards are the minimum that one is satisfied in achieving. If standards are set too low, then living life with purpose loses its attraction. But, it’s living up to better standards that separates the successful from the unsuccessful.

One of the best examples of setting better standards can be seen in the way a restaurant is operated. I can hear michelin star chef, Gordon Ramsay, telling his staff how important standards are over and over again within his restaurants, and there’s a reason for this method.

When any part of a guest’s experience at a restaurant is less than the best, the restaurant’s excellence is questioned. The same applies for you and me. When we aren’t living up to our best standards, we aren’t living our best life, and we aren’t impacting people in the biggest ways possible. This isn’t about meeting the expectations of others, but more about exceeding them. Implementing better standards not only makes ourselves better, but it makes those around us better, as well.

To create better standards is to communicate expectations to everyone. Better standards shows what you expect from yourself, and from your team. Nothing more, nothing less — better standards communicates excellence in everything you do.
