Putting The Time In

Time. Not much of us have it. There’s always something more important going on and not enough time in a day.

Putting time in is the hardest step to actually do when going after your dreams. You can come up with the idea and you can think of the future when it happens, but what about that space in between? The blood, sweat and tears that go into actually reaching your dreams. You may look at others and see them at the top, but you can’t go back and see the entire journey. Most of the time, they put days, weeks, months or even years of preparation to get where they are at now and the people on the outside miss where they put the time in along their journey.

So, how do you make sure that you get to put the time into dream chasing that you need to?

Here are three ways:

1. Make a daily list and schedule.

This really defines what you really want out of each day. Know what you want and you can go after it this way. It will get you up at the right time in the morning and get you in bed when you need to. It will keep you more productive and actually allow for more rest. Focus is the other important part to this. Shut things off to allow for more focus so you can be more productive and accomplish more in a shorter amount of time. This will allow for more time for other important things and more time for those close to you.

2. Know exactly how working on your goals will affect you and those around you.

If I’m honest, a big negative that can happen when dream chasing is self-centeredness. You have to be able to step back and think of those around you during the process, especially in long term dreams. So, have discussions with your family along the way. Know where they are at with everything you are going after. Know when it’s time to put time into your goals and when to put time into family. You want to have those closest to you on your side when going after your dreams. Those relationships can be the thing that gets you through it. Make sure to have fun along the way. If not, you can get tired and overwhelmed if you aren’t careful.

3. Surround yourself with encouragers.

Nothing else stops your dream chasing like negativity. Make sure that those around you believe in you and believe in you that you can reach your goals. Don’t let outsiders crush your dreams. You really can achieve it.

What is something that you have accomplished where you had to put some serious time in?
