Charisma is the compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others. This definition tells me that it’s important for us to dig a little deeper, because it’s something that everyone can benefit from. Sure, there is also the importance found in authenticity and the execution of ideas, but charisma is what draws other people to you. If you’ve ever wondered where charisma comes from, I have five ways for you to find it for yourself:

  1. Find your self-confidence. You have so much to offer other people!
  2. Care about other people more than you care about yourself.
  3. Your presence matters, so pay attention to the things you say and do. Dissect how you interact with others. Oh, and remember to keep eye contact and always listen intently.
  4. Find your passion and rally other people around it. Passion is contagious and will draw other people towards you, too.
  5. Focus on your emotional intelligence, or the ability to identify and manage your own emotions and the emotions of others. Self-awareness is key here.

Yes, according to Olivia Fox Cabane, author of The Charisma Myth: How Anyone Can Master the Art and Science of Personal Magnetismcharisma can be learned. This is great news, as it was previously thought of as a trait that you are born with, rather than a trait that is learned.

So, if you’ve been looking for charisma, these are the absolute best ways to begin implementing it in your own life right now.
