This is a point that I have wrestled with for probably ten years now. Taking on big dreams versus living in the moment and taking care of the really important life stuff that you and others around you need. Don’t get me wrong, having goals is an awesome thing. But, if your top priorities aren’t taken care of first, then scheduling those action items to help you get to those secondary goals for a later time should be given some serious thought.
The thing is, I know that I’m the only one that struggles with this issue. And when I do I come back to this each time: If I haven’t talked to God in quiet time or spent quality time with my family, I probably shouldn’t go and try to conquer the world. This usually happens when we try to fit God and family into our busy schedules rather than the other way around…
Don’t miss your life in the now while trying to plan your perfect future.
The way around this is to rearrange your schedule to fit in those other important things at a time that doesn’t conflict with your top priorities. Not many people want to put in the time, work and effort of waking up early and staying up late. The real question here is, “How bad do you want to reach your goals?”
So, what do you think about this? Also, what are your struggles?
