Most of us don’t think about the big ideas for the long term. Most people like to think about the small, short-term goals that will get them to where they want to go quickly and that’s the end of that. We enjoy instant gratification. What we need to realize is that some good things take longer than others. So, what is my advice to you?
Start moving and start doing.
That’s it. Because if you don’t, you will never get past the daunting task of going after things that you will need to put a lot of time into. You will never get past stage one. So, start by focusing on one step at a time, instead of looking at the entire thing all the time.
It might take you awhile to reach your financial goals. It might take you awhile to reach your physical goals. It might take you awhile to reach your career goals. Actually, it might take you awhile to reach all of your goals, but that’s the thing about goals…
Going big with your goals is the only way to go after goals.
The other thing about goals is that they aren’t just items on their own, they change your lifestyle. You just can’t compartmentalize them. Your goals are a by-product of who you are. They show the type of person that you are and who you strive to be.
Let’s go all in here in 2013 and make it big. This is the year that you finish what you started and encourage others to do the same.
So, my challenge to you is to choose one big thing for this year and go after it with all that you have. Once you come up with it, please leave it below in the comment section.
So true – it’s all about doing. Until about 2 years ago, I spent most of my time dreaming rather than doing. My big goal is to hike the highest peak in 10 states. (The overall goal is to hike a major peak in all 50 states over 5 years. TN & NC have been completed already.) I also want to double my blog audience this year.
Awesome man. One of my goals is to climb all 50 as well. It’s a fun one man. http://asmithblog.com/usa-fifty-highpoints/#.UO4b06WaCrc Good luck to you in both goals man. I’ll be keeping up.
Very cool…great minds think alike! Man, your hike to Mt. Mitchell looks like it was frigid, albeit very beautiful. And I thought it was cold up there in October! All the best to you on your journey as well. Maybe we can connect for a hike one day.
