In this day and age where everyone seems to be on social media, it is but a given that businesses will also have social media presence. After all, what better way to reach their customers than to be in the same space where they spend a lot of time browsing and posting? If you are a business owner, creating a social media account on sites like Facebook and Twitter is really in your best interest. But why stop there when you can also make use of ads? Take for instance Twitter Ads. When used correctly, they can do wonders for your business. If you are interested, then you ought to know the basics of Twitter ads.

Learning the Basics of Twitter Ads

Twitter ads is a new service by Twitter in which account holders have the option to promote their tweets and their accounts to broaden their reach. If your business already has a Twitter account and it happens to be very active, you can use Twitter ads to broaden your reach and to help you generate leads as well. Below are some ways on how Twitter ads can help businesses grow.

  • Gain visibility by way of promoted tweets. This is one way that businesses get the most out of Twitter ads. When users look for a certain keyword and your tweet has it, it will end up on top of the list which means that the maximum number of people will see your tweet.
  • Gain more followers by way of promoted accounts. Another way that businesses can get the most out of Twitter ads is by advertising promoted accounts. These promoted accounts are advertised in various places across Twitter and is a great way to grow your number of followers in a pinch. For those who are new to Twitter or who want to grow their fan base quickly, this is the easiest way to do it.

Setting Up Twitter Advertising

Part of learning the basics of Twitter ads is knowing how to set it up. This process is easy and should take you no more than several minutes.

  • You will get an email asking you to sign up for Twitter ads.
  • Click on the “start advertising” option.
  • You will be taken to a page where you will sign into your Twitter account.
  • The welcome page will load with options such as where your business is located, gain new followers by promoting your account, etc.

There is a series of steps you will be asked to follow, plus some advertising options that you can choose to go for or ignore. The end step is where you choose a payment method.

The Cost

The amount you pay depends on the service you get. For promoted tweets and promoted accounts, expect to pay $.50-$4.00 per engagement. Promoted trends is the third service they offer which costs $200,000 per day. When you pay, of course you expect it to work and it does work to some extent but coming up with interesting and engaging tweets is still up to you.

    Thanks for the insights Reade.$.50-$4.00 per engagement sounds a little pricey. I’d be curious to know if anyone is finding these promoted tweets especially effective? I’ve made some great connections on twitter, so i see how this could be helpful. However, on platforms like FB and Linked-In, I’ve found that my best connections happen organically, and not through the paid promotions. Anyone stumble on a secret for making these promotions work?
