Here are 28 ways to save time in your day:
- Write things down so you don’t forget them.
- Use a timer.
- Focus on one thing at a time.
- Unsubscribe from junk email you don’t care about.
- Turn off the TV.
- Use technology to automate as much as possible. (i.e. categorizing emails)
- Leave your keys and wallet in the same place every time so you can’t lose them.
- Bookmark websites that actually matter.
- Increase your intensity at the gym and cut your workout time in half.
- Turn off email alerts – Answer at specified times during the day, not every single time you get an email.
- Set hard deadlines for yourself.
- Wake up earlier or later if you need those extra few minutes to re-energize.
- Silence your cellphone, or if you have an iPhone, put it on “Do Not Disturb mode” during the day.
- Make lists.
- Delegate if you can.
- Schedule less for your day.
- Do your most important task first.
- Plan your day the day before.
- Have a dedicated leaving time for work and stick to it. No exceptions!
- Get an automatic coffee maker.
- Wear headphones while you work to avoid distractions.
- When posting links to social media, use services like Buffer.
- Save links to a “read later” service, or use Feedly to collect all your unread articles.
- Limit your social network browsing and updating.
- Use all-in-one shampoo and conditioner.
- Figure out which is faster – Stairs or elevator?
- Don’t wait on a print job or computer to boot up. Fill those gaps with other things that need to be done.
- Bring lunch from home and work through lunch instead of taking time off to eat.

I buy into 27 of them. #3 is impossible in today’s world. You are expected to be able to do at least 3 things at the same time, all the time and do them all correctly. I can’t remember the last time I was able to concentrate fully on one task.

Hal, I would disagree. I can completely understand that it’s extremely difficult to focus on one thing at a time, but not impossible. Just because you have a long list of things to do does not mean you can’t just focus on one thing at a time. But that’s just from my experience. I find I am able to focus on one thing at a time by eliminating all other distractions.
