In my previous career of ten years, I was promoted four times, and the one reason that each of these promotions happened was that I made myself invaluable. My boss at that time told me that the reason I got my last and biggest promotion was that I worked diligently, I gathered knowledge and gave it away, I produced results, and most of all, I worked well with the entire team. Ultimately, I cared.

And wherever you are at with your career, you can make yourself invaluable, too. Want people to start taking notice? Don’t be mediocre. There’s enough people who have taken this route, and are doing well at it.

So, the best question to ask yourself is,

How can I make myself invaluable?”

That’s how you make a difference. That’s how you get your next promotion.
