Sometimes we live our lives without knowing who is watching or how much we impact them. For parents, the results can be good, or they can be devastating for our children. The thing is that we don’t fully understand it, until we actually see it manifest in our children’s lives and their behavior. We have all heard this saying, which many parents have said to their children, “do as I say, not as I do.”
Children See. Children Do.
That would be great if that always happened. If the words we say to our children actually come out through their actions. Unfortunately, it usually doesn’t happen that way. Below is a powerful video which shows what really happens. Our children see and our children do.
So, what are your children seeing you do, that they will eventually do themselves? This video is a reminder for some, and an eye-opener for others. Whatever it is to you, make sure the actions and the words you use today, are something you will want your children doing tomorrow.
What one thing in 2014 can you do, that will make you proud if your kids did the same?
That’s one way to drive a point home. And it sure did. I know my boys are still infants now but I’m always thinking about what they must be thinking. Those little eyes are watching everything and checking out the world around them.
Yes, Leo, that video let’s us know they are watching all the time.
Wow, that video makes you think. Thanks for this, Jackie. In 2014 I will begin praising Jasmine more often outloud in front of my daughter, Colbie. My hope is not only to praise her, but for my daughter to do the same. Thanks for this challenge!
My pleasure, Adam! That’s a great idea for 2014!
