new car

yep. i made a dumb decision four years ago and it won’t be paid off until next year.

i bought a new car. a 2006 honda accord.

what can i say?

i love the new car smell.

don’t get me wrong. it’s been a great car. but as you know, i could have got a slightly used car for much cheaper.

but, i was set on an idea, so it happened. i’m hard headed sometimes. i’ve learned my lesson though and that’s just something i’ve decided that i’ll never do again.

then again there’s always a reason why people get rid of cars and make them “used”.

then there’s that whole lease option, but that just doesn’t seem like something i’d like too much either.

probably not the wisest decision, unless you plan on getting a new car every other year. i guess there’s some other reasons, too. maybe…

so, how do you buy cars?

buy new? used? lease?

I just bought a new car even though I said I’d always buy used. Why’d I do it? ‘Cause it was slightly more than the used one we were looking at and had MUCH more. Plus we got ’em to take $8K off and throw in a bike rack and permaplate. Now I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t get a stupid license plate that spells “poop” or something (happened to my friend so I know it’s a possibility).

I like new because I don’t “trust” the reason for the used being sold in the first place. But I know financially it isn’t the wisest thing. But it is what I am comfortable with. The last car I bought was slightly used and so far a good decision (except it doesn’t do well in snow). How’s that for a non-answer answer?

I bought and priced cars for a large dealership for about 10 years. It used to be that used was hands down the most economical option. Recently though, if you do your research, it may make sense to go new again. My only advice: if you go used just go with a well respected dealer who is well grounded in your area. Thanks to the internet you as a consumer have so much information at your fingertips it’s easier then ever to make a well informed decision. Good luck! Let us know what you get!
