knowing when to say something

“If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say, Don’t Say Anything At All” -Mama

I’m sure that my mom made this saying up.
Not really, but most people seem to forget this throughout their lives.
You can trade out “nice” with “constructive, uplifting, necessary, etc…”

So, yeah you have those people who don’t think before they speak. (I cringe when I hear these folks talk.)

You also have…

Those people that don’t say much.
Those people who think before they say something.
Those people who wish they didn’t say that something.
Those people who just like to hear themselves talk.

Hopefully you know which one you are.
If not, I’m sure a friend could tell you.

You’ve probably met all of those types of people in your life.
I can probably guess the type of person you enjoy being around the most.

Of course, knowing what to say at the right time is just as much an art form as actually speaking.

I’ve said plenty of things I wish I could take back.
But, I’ve definitely learned from those times.

Do you have an example of something that you wish you could take back? What might that one thing be?
