How To Influence Others

 how-to-win-friends-and-influence-people

Dale Carnegie who wrote the book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”  laid out some great foundation for all of us who want to know how to influence more people in a bigger way. My favorite quote from him is,

“Everybody in the world is seeking happiness – and there is one sure way to find it. That is by controlling your thoughts. Happiness doesn’t depend on outward conditions. It depends on inner conditions.”

To influence others, it is best to do it while being happy, both outwardly and on the inside. The amazing thing is that he wrote the book in 1936 and everything in it is still true today. He wrote content that has lasted. If you haven’t read this book, I would recommend to you to pick it up and enjoy the points he makes about influencing others.

Some other quotes that I enjoy about influence are…

“Leadership is influence, nothing more nothing less.” -John C Maxwell

“The humblest individual experts some influence, either for good or evil, upon others.” –Henry Ward Beecher

“Children are more influenced by sermons you act than by sermons you preach.” –David McKay

“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” -Napoleon Hill

“You can never really live anyone else’s life, not even your child’s. The influence you exert is through your own life, and what you’ve become yourself.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

“The greatest ability in business is to get along with others and to influence their actions.” -John Hancock

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” -Henry Adams

These are just a few great quotes on influence, but they all show just how important influencing others can be. Influencing others can be an intentional practice, but it is also a reward from achieving greatness. Your work itself can and will influence others. The question you can start asking yourself today is, “What can I do to influence others today?” Influence then becomes a byproduct of what you do for others.

How can people influence others on a daily basis? You can leave your comment below.

I read this book and it changed the way I approached people in my workplace. I started wording things differently and complementing others regularly. It was eye-opening and continues to influence how I interact with others. Great post! Great Book!

        I know man!
One of my favorite books on writing is the same way, it’s called, “If You Want To Write” by Brenda Ueland, and written in the 1930’s. Remarkably relevant (and of course I recommend it:)

Great post and topic! I’ve read the book several years ago and have benefited from the wisdom it offered. I think leading by example is the best way to influence people toward a better future.
