it’s that forbidden holiday for Christians.
you know.
it’s that one where we don’t turn on the house lights so everyone in the neighborhood knows we would never participate in such a thing, we have church lock-ins and dress up as Bible characters.
since jasmine is pregnant, i had an idea for jasmine to dress as Mary and me as Joseph, but jasmine scratched it real quick.
we’ve never really had a halloween thing that we do, though.
sometimes we hang out with friends.
we definitely don’t watch scary movies. still doesn’t make sense to me.
the kids will eventually bring back the Bible character costumes.
but, until then we need some ideas.
What do you do on Halloween?
Tell the kids who come to your door, a ghost story, how Jesus sent them into the PIGS and how they perished. Then give them a Jesus cd or game, a kiss and a hug if they allow you to.

A bunch of my friends (single and married) have gotten together at one of our good friends house and had a Halloween Dress to NOT Trangress Party. We always have a great time. They bring out Rock Band and they always have a variety of contests. I’m SOOO looking forward to this years party.
*supposed to say Transgress

I’m thinking of taking Martin Luther’s advice on what to do this Hallowe’en.

Followed over from Twitter. First comment ever. Do I win a prize?
We decorate our house, pass out candy, and let the kids go around collecting candy too. We have some neighbors and family over every year to BBQ hot dogs in the front yard and eat my wife’s chilli. It’s been a pretty cool tradition to see evolve. I think it’s particularly good because we get to build strong relationships with neighbors and connect with so many people. All in all, we hope to be light in our neighborhood by staying in the neighborhood and welcoming neighborhood kids to our home. It’s such a societal norm to keep the lights off anyway or go somewhere else, but we see Halloween as a very tangible opportunity to “love our neighbors as ourselves” by spending time with them.
