This song is 25 years old, but is as true today as it was in 1988. Dont worry, be happy. You’re probably saying to yourself, “If it was only that simple.”, right?

Worry is not your friend. Tell me, what has worrying done for you? I am guessing not much. This is because God gives enough grace for each day. Worrying days, weeks or months beforehand will help nothing. Feel free to plan things out, but don’t worry.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34

So, what do we do when worry comes? Here are 3 ways to fight worry when it seems like the only option…

1. Change your thinking.

Choose to think about different things. If you are dwelling on something negative, replace it with something positive. Your thinking controls a lot, including your outlook on life.

2. Ask yourself, “Can I change this right now?”

The answer is usually that you cannot change a thing. So, rest in that fact.

3. Prepare.

When I am worried about something, it is usually because I didn’t prepare well enough. When I am ready and prepared to take things on, I am more confident in what I am doing. Next time you feel worry coming on, make sure you are prepared for the task at hand.
