It is not possible to have an organization where all power is equally shared. There needs to be someone at the head of an organization, because in the end, decisions have to be made. Someone has to gather all information and make a well-informed decision to move the organization ahead. This being said, people in management need to have the correct mindset to lead by putting others first.
Most people work hard to obtain the title and pay they achieve in their work. Believing that an unequal distribution of power is not needed says that no one needs to work harder, because if everyone is equal, then why should anyone try to excel?
Recently, the CEO of Gravity payments tried this philosophy, paying its employees each $70,000. At first this sounded like a great idea, but as time went on, people saw just how bad this idea was. Entry-level employees were making the same pay as employees who had been with the company for ten years. This of course did not make any sense.
People who have worked somewhere longer will know more about the company, what their role is at their company, and will have more responsibility as time goes on. This is the natural progress of employment, so it is good that power is unequally distributed.
