Time is a valuable thing for all of us. We plan big dreams with the hopes of one day achieving these plans. We don’t really have much of a plan set in place, but we know what we want. The hope is that our fate and destiny will end up being fulfilled by the end of our lives and all will be well. If that is your plan, then what I can tell you is that it probably won’t happen. That’s right. I’m sorry to rain on your parade, but the odds of things just happening are pretty slim. The work in the day to day is what will increase your odds. That is what will affect you the most…
The day to day is that important. Dreams aren’t these far off imaginary things. You need to be working on them now. Here are 3 things that will increase your odds while chasing your dreams:
1. Come to the realization that the day to day is what makes up your future.
First, you need to assess where you are at in the now. This will help you move forward in the right direction. Then come up with an action plan on how to attack your plan with a new focus on a daily basis. List out everything that you need to accomplish to achieve your goals and create a deadline. Goals without deadlines are just thoughts. Deadlines show yourself and others that you are hungry for the “finish line”.
2. Make a reasonable schedule and communicate it to others.
A schedule will help you and others around you with visualizing what you will need to get to in achieving your goals. Once you do this, communicate it to others to create conversation around your dreams. This not only makes it seem real and attainable, but it lets those closest to you know that your time is going to other things at the moment and that you need encouragement during the pursuit.
3. Execute the realistic plan.
How many times have you come up with plans to change the world and didn’t follow through because they aren’t attainable at the planned pace, so they aren’t sustainable. Goals that are too big to wrap your head around will stop you before you even start.
What are you doing today to make sure that your plan will actually happen? You can leave your comment below.

Great points Adam! Our daily choice lead us toward the future, if we want to reach our dreams it requires daily action. I’ve been getting into a routine of writing every night (after my wife and son go to bed0 for a few hours. It’s leading me toward my desire to become a full time writer.

I had a sort of epiphany about this very subject the other day. It was early morning, and the kids weren’t awake yet, which is unusual. I thought, “Hey, I have some free time. I should play a video game while I have the chance.”
Then it hit me: if I have free time, I should spend it building my freelance business. After all, if I don’t take my business seriously, why should I expect my clients to take me seriously as a partner?
So I wrote some content, drafted some proposal emails, and even did a little big picture planning. It felt good.
