Often times we find ourselves in seasons of doubt, frustration, or restlessness. We wonder if we have made the right decisions. We wonder what God’s plan for our life is. We even wonder if God cares. Friend, let me tell you this – He does care. David speaks of God’s genuine endearment for His children in Psalms 8:3-4 by saying, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of Him, and the son of man that You visit him?” These two verses show us how David grasps, in whatever way possible a human can grasp this, the wonder and majesty of our Creator.
God has written your love story. You and your story are unique. You were designed for a specific purpose and no one else has the story you have. No one else will do the things you have done. No one else will accomplish what you will accomplish.
Let’s look at a few ways in which we can begin to change our mindset about how we view ourselves.
1. Don’t worry!
When I worry about things in life, I find my peace in God by thinking of the stars, planets, and galaxies that exist far beyond our eyesight. It is almost unfathomable knowing that more exists than what the human eye can see. As a child, I grew up having a sincere love for astronomy. I stood in awe as I gazed up at the stars or looked through books full of wonderful imagery of those celestial beings far beyond our reach. God is creative isn’t He? In our human minds, the challenge presents itself in comprehending God’s genuine love for us, the tiny little specs on planet Earth, some 25,000 light-years away from the outer edge of the Milky Way.
2. Consider your worth.
Do you think the Creator of the entire universe does not have your best interests at heart? He does and He truly cares. He will take care of you and use the hard times, the seasons of doubt, of frustration, of worry to teach you things you otherwise would not have learned – that in turn, will be used to help someone else along the way.
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” – Isaiah 26:3
My encouragement to you, reader, is to rest in the Lord’s faithfulness. Rest in His perfect peace and will. Trust that He knows what he is doing with you and the path for your life.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
You are loved. You are valued. You are set apart. You are unique.
Will you take a moment to consider your worth this week? Will you rest in knowing how special you are?
