Calling Versus Doing

Most people feel called to something. No matter what it is, you probably have to acquire a skill to get closer to actually achieving it.

If God has called you to music, then you have to learn an instrument. If God has called you to speaking, you probably need to get in front of a few crowds and talk. If God has called you to being a business owner, you may need to go back to school and getting a degree. No matter what God has called you to, you probably have to put in some work along the way. It’s just part of the journey and that’s where most of the learning happens. If you know what you are called to, find joy in the journey and just start doing.

What do you feel “called” to?

I need to remind people that to reach of point of answering God’s calling, it is necessary to pray to God asking him to reveal what that calling might be. In other words, there is an important first step to take. Adam, I love your blogs. You are so genuine in what you write. Your wife and child are very fortunate to have a person like you in their lives.

I’m really struggling with the concept of calling versus desire. I had an idea that seemed to glorify Him, open opportunities to discipleship, provide jobs for a handful of people all while developing opportunities to train and educate the community in the hopes of giving lower income men and women a trade. Nonetheless, it has been much harder than I ever expected. Now I’m struggling with whether or not it was a calling or a selfish desire to be something more than what God has created me for. Either way, I know He disciplines those He loves, so He will keep me on the path, one way or another.

He will direct you. All you can do is keep going if your ears are open to listening to him. He always has big plans for us, bigger than we even know. Thanks for reading man.
