What should I do now?
Maybe you have done all you know to do and you are now stuck. We have all been there. Feeling stuck is when we usually become complacent thinking that not much can happen so we don’t move, instead of seeking out direction. It is in these times of feeling stuck that listening to God is not only necessary for your own sanity, but it is required to move forward. But, even in this moment of feeling stuck, movement is what makes things happen.
Here are the three things you need to do in your moments of feeling stuck to bring the best possible outcomes:
1. Listen to God.
You can listen to God through His Word or listen to God through His Voice. This is why it is so important to stay in God’s Word, because there are so many tips from wise people in God’s Word that help you deal with issues that still exist today. Principles apply whether we are talking about then, or now. People still deal with the same emotions, faults and desires today as they did back then. The main point that can speak to you no matter what you are dealing with right now, is that you can’t do this alone, and the great thing is that God wants to help you. Begging isn’t required to conjure God up into maybe helping you. He wants to help you. Prayer is just a way to communicate to God, because He wants to hear and help you. Remember that God is always on your side. If you don’t have that view of God, that is what has to change before your relationship with Him is a healthy one.
2. At some point you will have to put in some effort.
This feeling of being stuck will try to keep you to yourself and will try to settle you into contentment with the journey you are on, but don’t let this happen. At some point you have to move out of your comfort zone and dare to make a change. Use these times to step out and go do something different. Have fun with it! A lot of what this podcast is about is going and doing, but the source of wanting to bless others is God. Yes for some people it seems that doing good for others is a bigger desire than for others, but most importantly, God told us to go and make a difference. If you haven’t figured this out yet, when you try to do things on your own is usually when you fail. We only can do so much in our power, because we were created to rely on Him. The two important reasons to live a life of purpose is to Honor God and bless others. Maybe you will be the best glimpse of God that someone may ever see. You don’t know exactly where people have been, and you looking to be a blessing to others allows relationships to happen and creates space to give back to others.
3. Be influenced by awesome people, books, videos, and podcasts in the meantime.
We have talked about having mentors, and in this waiting time is a great time to have wise people who speak into your life. Not only can people pour into your life in when feeling like you are alone and stuck, but so can great books. You have probably learned a lot through reading great books in your lifetime and the waiting season is no different. Make a reading list and read books such as Rework, Daring Greatly, and Power of Habit that will force you to think out of the box, help motivate you, show you how your body works, give you practical and not so practical action steps. Those are the kinds of books and that give you the most momentum. Videos on youtube such as Ted Videos and podcasts that help you see a better perspective are great tools to have in waiting as well. You can learn a lot of things from all these resources and begin applying what you learn from them right now.
So as you can see, feeling stuck doesn’t have to be overwhelming. You can be productive during these times. There is so much you can do when you feel that there is no next step to take. Make sure you take enough time out to meditate, read God’s Word and listen to what He is saying, at some point you will have to go and do, and pour into yourself through people and resources to move ahead in life.
Do these three things and take the next step, today.
