Here is one way to dramatically change your outlook:
Start speaking positively about yourself and others.
Seems simple, right? For most people, their mind is in a rut and they don’t realize it. It’s not hard to leave this behind. It just takes some focusing on the words that are actually coming out of your mouth.
Here are some action items to get you moving in the right direction:
1. Do not speak negatively about yourself, especially in those things that you want to change about yourself. As an example, if you are messy, don’t say that you are. Point out the good things about yourself in the area of cleanliness. This step seems so small, but it is so key. You will begin to believe what you speak most about yourself.
2. Good in is good out. Surround your self with things and people that are a positive influence on you. Be careful with what you let into your life. In some cases, you won’t have control of everything going on around you. Stand firm, don’t get down and remember what you stand for. Remember, you can’t control another person’s actions, but you do control yours.
3. Life is too short not to be joyful. I would rather be around a happy person instead of a depressed person. There is something awesome when you know where your joy comes from. And constant joy is even better. It keeps you from the ups and downs. Find ten things to write down that you are joyful about and tape it somewhere that you will see it often.
Let these things be a reminder to you that life is beautiful no matter where you are at. Really, it all depends on your outlook.
So, my challenge to you is to just pay attention to what negative things you say through out the day. What things do you notice about yourself, good or bad?
