Two Things That All Life Coaches Teach

I have countless Leadership, Life Coach and self-help books along the way. Leadership books are my favorite books to read because I definitely don’t have all the answers and need some help along the way. Each book has different points throughout, but there is two main points that all of them teach:

Be intentional with every single moment in your day and when you put good in, good will come out.

That’s it. That’s the secret. Mind-blowing, huh?

Well doing these things are easier said than done, but here’s 3 ways that you can make sure you do these things more often than not:

1. Do what you said you were going to do.

This is integrity and people respect and follow integrity. If you want to have great relationships and more of them you will be more conscious of following this rule. If you said you were going to spend time with your wife and kids, then spend time with them. If your goal was to exercise and watch better things on tv and read your Bible everyday and pray more then do those things. That’s a great place to start.

2. Surround yourself with like-minded people that believe in you and support you every step of the way.

It’s a fact that if you have people rooting you on, then you will succeed more often… Well, I don’t know if that’s a fact, but it sure seems right. The more times you have people thanking you for spending time with them and pouring good into them, the more you will want to do it. It ends up becoming a blessing to others and in return you are blessed. Also, if people around you are living the same way that you are, then it’s easier to do so yourself. It becomes “the norm” and you end of making each other better for it.

3. Be serious about it and get the junk out.

If there are obstacles keeping you from your full potential, then you’ll have to remove them. If your listening and watching negative things, then replace them with positive. If you keep telling people that you’ll do something and you don’t, then stop telling them lies. People want honesty, not a “yes man”. Make commitments to the important things in life and stop wasting time.

I know that doing these things probably aren’t going to be easy and it will definitely take time to break some bad habits, but it will build integrity in every area of life and make you a better person. You also will probably slip and fall every once and a while, but when you get up and keep going, it will say even more about your character. And that’s something worth striving for, right?

What are some other things that can improve the way people live their life? Also, what are some other ways that people can become better about being intentional with every single moment of the day and putting more good into their lives? You can leave a comment below.

Pouring into the lives of others, more so than our own selves. Here is the short film that my friend Justin Robinson produced. Check it out.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NayH5d6tVuE

One of the most important things I’ve learned is to know where you are going in life. When you know your purpose then suddenly every decision you are faced with becomes easier. If you don’t already have it, I would recommend the book Resolved: 13 Resolutions for Life by Orrin Woodward, it is excellent!

Make your choices based on what is true for your own unique path. Don’t be a people pleaser (women have a big problem with this). Serving others is much different than trying to please others. I’ve been on a long journey of choosing what God would have me do with my endless choices, instead of letting the world unknowingly choose for me. Huge and hard, but happy!
