Entitlement is such a cancer, because it is void of gratitude. And once gratitude is gone, everything becomes about you. “I did this, so I deserve ______” will become a familiar phrase, and the negativity and bitterness that comes when something doesn’t go your way will be detrimental to your success.

Gratitude then is the cure to entitlement. Where should one start with gratitude? Realize that life is a gift. That’s why second chances and new sunrises are so beautiful. There’s much to be grateful for.

Gratitude exercise:

Answer the following questions to see just how much you have to be grateful for:

  • Who is someone you can contribute some of your success to?
  • What are some things you love about the people around you?
  • What new opportunities do you have that you’re excited about?
  • What are some things that you’ve recently learned?

Look at the answers to these questions and remain grateful for every new opportunity that comes your way. There’s no room for entitlement with gratitude.
