Sometimes we can be blinded by the few bad things that are going on in our lives and we can let those happenings control our view on life. One or two bad things going on in your life doesn’t culminate to a bad life. It also doesn’t mean you should start complaining either. What does complaining do? It brings you down even more, changes your outlook to a more negative one, and it makes you focus on the negativity going on in your life. If you take the time to realize everything else going on in the world around you that is much worse than what you are currently going through, then you will see that you really don’t have anything legitimate to complain about. Now of course comparing your life to others and standing by while doing nothing for people to help them see a better light will do nothing for anyone involved, but it is good to be able to see where your issues lie in the grand scheme of things. When you have a better perspective on life, you will see that your circumstances might not be as bad as you maybe thought they were.
Here are three ways to see if you tend to complain more often than not:
1. What are your words and actions showing?
In other words, what fruits are you producing with your life? Your words of course will tell you if you are complaining, but you need to take a look at your actions as well. When everything you say and do is negative, it will creep into every area of your life. Choose to speak positive words of life, and watch your actions line up with your words. Complaining will only bring more negativity into your life and it is a downward spiral from there.
2. Do you tend to be more grateful or ungrateful?
Take a minute to think about what you are currently going through. Do you find yourself complaining about life or are you excited about life’s cheerful moments? Even if life is full of negativity in this season of life for you, choose to see the things in life that you can currently be grateful for. When you tend to be grateful, life has a way of bringing an abundance of positivity your way, just because that is your outlook on life. Two people can go through the exact same situation and come out of it with completely different outlooks on life. Choose to be grateful in everything, even if the only thing you can see to be grateful for is having another day to love other people. That’s definitely something to be grateful, as that is the most important thing you can possibly do.
3. What do you think the perception is that others have of you?
Usually negative people attract other negative people and the same goes for positivity attracting positivity. So, who are you hanging around? Of course this doesn’t mean that every person doesn’t matter, even if they have a negative outlook on life. But, it is important to know what other people think of you and what your reputation is, so you can see who and what you attract. Even if you think you are a positive person, the perception of others can be different. Strive to be a blessing to others in all you do and make an impact through being a more positive person.
Ask yourself these three questions and you will see growth in your life immediately.
Start speaking life to your current circumstances and stop complaining, today.
