I’ve been giving a very straightforward answer to a lot of different questions lately, and it’s this: Do something that matters. After noticing that it’s an answer I often give, I went back to see if I had written a post on why this is so important, and I couldn’t find one where I went into specific detail. I’ve done a podcast on how to do something that matters, but haven’t yet explained why you should do something that matters, so I thought I would do that here. You should do something that matters because you will find fulfillment, but let me unpackage this idea. [Read more…] about Why You Should Do Something That Matters
make a difference
You don’t need to be a CEO of some huge corporation to make a difference in the business world. You also don’t need to be in management to impact your organization. People are wired differently, and it’s okay to be an assistant to someone. People need your help in whatever capacity that may be. It’s also okay to be an employee in a company if that’s what you’re happy doing.
Too many times, people use comparison as a reason to want to change their profession, but that’s not a good enough reason to change. To be like someone else is to overlook the purpose you have for your life. I know I have focused on this subject a lot lately, but it’s so important. When you lose sight of the fact that you are you for a reason, and nobody else can do what you do, the importance of knowing who you are as a person becomes much more clear.
This video is from Restore International, the organization that we have the opportunity to help through giving during the month of February. I wanted to give you another glimpse into what they do and who they impact through showing you this inspirational short video. Restore is making a difference in Uganda and all over the world and we get to partner with them as a community. This gives each and every one of us another way to make an impact on a part of the world that we may never see and help build classrooms for Restore Leadership Academy. Doing this allows us to reach beyond ourselves and show love to future leaders. I wanted to let you know about this a month ahead of time, so you could not only find out more about Restore International and what they do, but also to let you think about how you can make an impact. We will need $30,000 to make this happen, but I know we can do this. It is a big goal, so I need your help as well as help from your friends in this, as I definitely can’t do it without you.
I don’t know about you, but it is difficult not to get excited about huge goals like this.
