When I first saw Larry Smith’s TED talk, I knew he was passionate about helping people. Both his passion for life and his frustration with his students wasting their talents showed in his talk, and I couldn’t help but listen intently to what he had to say. In this conversation, I talk to Larry about passion, creativity, his new book, his TED talk, and much more. You can listen to our conversation below:
People ask me a lot, “Are you a morning or a night person?”
My answer is always, “I’m a night person trying to become a morning person.”
Then that’s always followed with, “Why?”
Well, it seems that the most successful people are morning people. They are excited about the day and want to get a start at it, instead of waking up late and almost dreading the day.
I’ll give one example of a person that benefitted from waking up early.
He rose early to write letters and journal. This is how we know so much about him. I mean he was a very successful dude. The list really goes on and on, but when I try to think of a ton of successful people that are known for staying up late, my mind draws a blank. Let me know if you can think of one.
I know some of you will disagree with me. I’m sure you’ve done tons of successful college work at 2am.
Again, my body wants to be up past midnight, but that’s an area I need more discipline in.
Are you a morning or night person?
