inspiration

Today I tweeted the above statement on twitter.

I found the inspiration at The American Mountaineering Museum from stories about people like Ed Viesturs and Jim Whittaker. The museum also houses the American Alpine Club. It’s a great place to visit if you’re ever in the Golden, CO area.

So, I found myself here after getting distracted from one of my main goals, which is mountain climbing. My ultimate goal is to climb the seven summits. This is the tallest summit on each continent. This of course includes the tallest summit in the world, Mount Everest.

Small scale replica of Mount Everest and it’s different routes that are traveled.

I know I talk about goals a lot, but if we didn’t have goals, where would we end up? It’s definitely easier when you have something to aim for.

It’s that goal that I want to accomplish, but things keep getting in the way of it. The time that it takes to train is being taken up with other stuff right now. The time that it takes to travel to these destinations is also being taken up with other stuff right now.

Maybe you have a goal like this. You really want something, but just can’t find the time to accomplish it.

Well, I’m thinking that I just needed a little inspiration.

What/Who inspires you?

The Best Things About Fort Collins, Colorado

Here are the ten best things about Fort Collins, Colorado:

  1. There isn’t much humidity.
  2. The mountains are close by.
  3. This town despises litter.
  4. People are really active here.
  5. It’s at the right size where everybody knows everybody.
  6. It snows the right amount.
  7. Everything is in walking distance.
  8. People are nice.
  9. There are tons of great restaurants.
  10. There are too many bike trails to count.

Now, give me one reason why you love the city that you live in.

Passion for Baseball Season

If you don’t know, baseball is my favorite sport. It always has been and always will be. I was a pitcher up until high school and decided to quit because I didn’t see a future in it. In addition to not seeing a future, I lost my passion for the game. Instead of going through another baseball season I went and got a job so I could make some money to buy my first car.

The Atlanta Braves were my favorite team growing up. But now that I live in Colorado, I feel my new favorite team should be the Colorado Rockies. Here is a conversation I had with a friend from Georgia today.

(Above the talk about the Rockies’ baseball season in that text message, we talked about balloon boy. You forgot about him, didn’t you? Oh, and Nate’s last name isn’t really, Hump. It’s Humphreville. I thought I should let you know that.)

What is something you thought you would end up doing later on in life when you were growing up, but ended up losing a passion for?
