There was a point in my life where people that always talked about Jesus got on my nerves. It was just too much and flat out annoying. It was a time I was far away from the person I should be. I figured out that the thing or person you spend time with the most will be the thing you talk about the most. But, I’ve also heard some Christians say, “If you talk about Jesus all the time, how can you make relationships with people that don’t know about Jesus?” So, what do you think? Can people ever talk about Jesus too much? Is cramming Jesus ever a bad thing?

If you are genuine and not only talk about but be about it then I believe you can never cram it cause you will know the right time to bring it into discussion when you try to reach those that are far from Jesus.

I agree with Marcus, I think if you're living it and IT is who you are, then there's nothing wrong with talking about Jesus all the time if he's really at the center of who you are and what you are you're probably not cramming it at all, you're probably just sharing. But if you're just doing it to "check evangelism off the list" then it's a horrible thing and you might be cramming.

But if a person is truly effected by Christ, they probably can't help but talk about Him.

Another thing I wonder is, are Christians convinced that Jesus is who he says he is. I wonder if there are a lot of people struggling with doubt and maybe they can't "buy in" as much as to be willing to freely talk about it. Just a thought.

If you are talking about what type of soup to buy at Costco for your kitchen pantry, in most cases it will be difficult to work Jesus into the discussion.

If you are talking about what type of topping you want on your ice cream sundae, in most cases it will be difficult to work Jesus into the discussion.

If you are responding to your hope for the future, in most cases it will be difficult _not_ to work Jesus into the discussion.

If asked about your views towards matters theological, in most cases it will be difficult _not_ to work Jesus into the discussion.

Is Jesus relevant to the discussion? Will you do more harm towards being a witness by bringing Jesus up? Can the other person see your good works so that they may glorify your Father in Heaven?

It sometimes annoys me as well when people talk so much about Jesus like trying to fit in every sentence with his name. Yep, he's as close as a brother and a friend, the only way to the Father but also HIS NAME IS HOLY, to rephrase it, SET APART as well

There are times when it's absolutely appropriate to talk about Jesus. There are also times when it may seem less appropriate – but if you are led to talk about Him, then you should – regardless of the situation.

It's not up to us to detemine the best time to share the Word.

The second comment here reminds me of one of the monologues in 'Henry Pool was Here' – that non-christians have this impression that all Christians naturally have a TINY bit of doubt, so they go around trying to convince everyone that they're right, when in reality they're just trying to convince themselves. An interesting observation, to be sure.

Personally, I have a RELATIONSHIP with God, so I'll talk about Him as much as I would my husband, or sister, or dad. If someone asks what my husband does for a living, I'll talk about him. If someone asks why my life is so great, I'll talk about God. He's part of everything I do, so He'll come up on conversation.

I think there are some people who may be to OBSESSED about 'conversions', but then again – look at Star Wars, or LOTL, or 'Twilight'! There are 'Jesus Freaks', too! And as long as they have enough of a 'filter' to stop before they're obsession becomes damaging to their relationships, I say go for it! God redeems EVERYTHING for His Kingdom.

Jesus is central to my life. He comes up just like my husband or son–only much more often. It's the result of "overflow" in my life, not due to a sense of obligation, but because I can't help but share.

I have found that sharing is a two way street. There is no sharing where there has not first been caring. Caring is the starting place of genuine relationships. No one cares what I say until they first know I care about them. Without caring there is no dialogue. Instead it is a monologue which equals a lecture. People don't respond very well to lectures.

I have found that in context of "relationships" that even those who don't know Jesus are not put off by hearing about what He's doing in my life as long as they've been left room for them to share about their life as well.

I'm not ashamed of the Gospel but believe that we need to measure our words and be led by the Holy Spirit.

I think you can have balance i saw when i got saved that i did constanly talk christianese and it scared people alot…but people did listen to me also…zeal has good and bad quailties to it =]

I’d have to agree with Marcus at the top. Who you are as a Christ Follower can speak volumes more than just talking about Jesus. I was an atheist, and when I finally meet a man who really didn’t talk about Jesus, but acted a heck of a lot like Jesus, my eyes began to open and he drew me to asking questions. This has been something I have tried to do with my life. I want to reflect Jesus more than I want to preach Jesus. Jesus always drew people to him, and then he preached God to them. I dunno if this made sense, but that’s how I see it.

I think if you live out Jesus everywhere you go, then you can use words when absolutely necessary. : ) Once the person gets to know you and feels comfortable with you, you've already got an open door. They'll want to know why you are different. Then, conversation can happen. You never know where a persons coming from or previous wounds they are nursing so you never want to preach at others. Sometimes words can be like alcohol on an open wound making them hurt so much more. Listening is good too.

I guess I'm one of those that is "far from Jesus", but I like hanging around people that are not so far from Jesus. So I don't know what that says about me, except that puts me out of the loop with most of the posters here. Still, I enjoy hanging out here or other sites like this and reading all the comments or posts. And maybe that's because I don't feel like religion is being crammed down my throat. I had enough of that growing up and it's one of the reasons why I stopped going to church all together. When and if I'm ever ready to take the next step, I'll feel much more comfortable surrounding myself with people that live IT rather than preach it. I'm just sayin'.

I think we can all agree that there are a lot of “holy rollers” in this world. Yes Jesus loves “holy rollers”, but I think about who Jesus seemed to spend his time with and conversations that he may have had with those people. I’m pretty sure that Jesus didn’t bust out his favorite sermon everytime an issue came up. So yes we should talk about Him…when the time is right.
I think we should try to have regular conversations without Him. So that when the time is right we can have a conversation filled with Him!!!

ave to say, if one is a living embodiment of who ‘the Christ’ is
(or at least attempting to be as close as possible) – reaching out to
the down-trodden, the oppressed, the lame, the outcast, those whom
society deems to be of little or no economic or relational value and are
showing the love that God in Christ shows to all of humanity – then it
will be evident that something in one’s life is different and the questions
will come – Why? That’s the invite to begin the sharing who Jesus is and then begin
leading into why this incarnation/life/death/resurrection is of any significance.

I think there needs to be balance as with everything in life. We've been digging into what should be our object of worship at church lately. The sad thing is, is that we can turn even our faith, our Christian walk into an idol. We start comparing ourselves to others we deem not as "Christian" as ourselves. Obviously Christ should come first above all else, but are we worshiping the fact that we are Christians and do "Christian things"?
