My views have changed by maturing, spending time with the Lord, and listening to people that give wise counsel, so that I can apply it to my life. The main person that influenced my outlook, at least on leadership, would have to be Mother Teresa. Of course I didn’t know her personally, but she definitely made a huge impact on me. I knew she was authentic from just hearing stories about what she had done. The amazing thing to me is that she didn’t have a stage and a microphone. Mother Teresa just had love and compassion and people came to know of her through folks talking about her multiple acts of love. Pretty cool stuff. She taught me that a big part of leadership is serving. That was her awesome leadership sauce.

I have to say my pastor, Gordon Cashwell. Just by watching him lead not only the church, which is in the inner city but also a ministry that goes outside the walls of the church and into the city and surrounding area. I see his willingness to trust others over an area, and flourish in that. Even more he trusts those who come in the doors of the church to speak with him. Its like he trusts that God has his back. He has continuously shared how the ministry started and where God has taken it and where he sees Him taking it now. I wish I had that type of trust and faith like him.

For me, it's pastor and author Peter Scazzero. I love his authenticity about his struggles and his passion to invest in other leaders.

There are a small handfull. My parents; my Pastors, Chuck and Karen Pelham and my previous Pastors Toni and Kathy Miller who now pastor Cathedral of Praise, or “The Cathedral” in Oklahoma City.

From my parents I’ve seen forgiveness. From my pastors, great vision and abounding grace. From my previous pastors, love for people that goes beyond selflessness. There iso much more that I’ve learned from them but these characteristics stick out the most. I believe they are some of the most integral parts of being a leader. They stick out ot me as important because they’re all things that ourselves and those we lead can never earn…theymust be given freely. And will only be given freely because you care about where those people are going. A true leader is all about facilitating someone else’s journey.
