Looking to The Past

You can’t look at the past. The preachers that I listened to growing up drilled this into my head. Can’t look at the past. Got it. It was bad to look at the past because the future is where it’s at. Well, I can sort of understand that because they don’t want you to dwell on it. I get that. But, the past holds a ton that we can learn from. If we don’t look at the past, then we are destined to fail time and time again.

Why is this?

We can’t learn from our mistakes unless we dissect what we did to cause the problem in the first place. Once we know what caused it, and we decide that we don’t ever want to see that result again, then we know what not to do again.

Albert Einstein even said,
that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I can’t count how many times I’ve done that.

Heading into 2011 and as you plan for the future, don’t forget about the things that were executed perfectly in 2010 and the things that didn’t work so well in the past.

Hope you took good notes.

New Years Resolutions

Goals. Resolutions. Whatever you want to call them.

For 2010, I had ten goals, but two main goals.
1) Start working out everyday. — For the most part, I make this happen.
2)Change my life for the better. — I guess this could’ve meant a few things. For me, it meant move to Colorado and make a baby.

Looking back on 2010, it was an awesome year. I hope it was for you, too.

2011 will be here before you know it. I’m gonna lose 15 pounds, get the book published, work on blog content and hit 20 highpoints in 2011. Yep, it’s gonna happen.

What did you accomplish in 2010 and what are your goals for 2011?

work hard for it

Nothing worth having ever came easy.”
So, for that job that you have that becomes so difficult you want to quit, remember that.
For that schooling that you think that you’ll never understand, remember that.
For that marriage that you actually have to work on, remember that.
For those friendship spats, remember that.
For that church you’re trying to plant, remember that.
For that person that you’re trying to get along with in your church, remember that.
For that project you’re working on…
Remember that.

Because there is beauty in all of this.

What is that one thing that you’ve put all your blood, sweat and tears into?
